7 most beautiful Spanish cities you need to visit!

30 Jan 2020 | Destinations, Europe

Those who have been following my blog for some time, know by now that I am in love with Spain. I visit the country almost every month and I still can’t get enough of it. The list of cities in Spain is endless and every Spanish city has its own charm.

What attracts me the most to Spain? All the little things… I get happy from seeing oranges hang casually at the trees or from the siestas that bring calmness into the streets during the day… From all the delicious Spanish tapas with a specific twist in every city to the beautiful squares covered with terraces packed at any given hour with people enjoying a carjillo or sangria. Whenever I am in Spain, time and time again I realize it is ok to live life a bit slower. And to take it all in, enjoying life with friends and family simply in the moment.

In this blog, I will tell everything about the most beautiful Spanish cities that are definitely worth a visit. From flamenco in Seville, eating traditional paella in Valencia to sipping sangria in Barcelona. Below you can find my list of the best cities to visit in Spain.

7 most beautiful Spanish cities you need to visit

Barcelona is the second largest and most vibrant city in the country. The list of places to visit Barcelona is endless with world famous places thanks to Gaudi and his Sagrada Familia or Park Güell. The city has the best Spanish tapas in the country, nice shops, a vibrant nightlife, splendid beaches and a lot of culture. Short, Barcelona offers it all. Colorful, gothic and contemporary Barcelona is pure eye candy and will provide you with the most beautiful images, no matter in which direction you look.

Valencia is considered the City of Arts and Sciences and is home to some impressive and futuristic buildings like the Oceanographic and planetarium, the interactive museum or the Jardín del Turia.

You can’t help but to simply fall in love with the city instantly. It’s a trendy city, without the mass tourism of for example Barcelona. The city lies at the sea and because of its pleasant climate, you can enjoy the beach almost all year round. It is the city where the traditional Spanish paella originated and where you can relax in one of its many parcs.

Bilbao is the greenest city of the Spanish Bask region. The so-called Bilbao effect attracts thousands of visitors every year thanks to the astonishing Guggenheim museum. But the colorful city has so much more to offer. Enjoy some typical Pinxtos, walk to the beautiful San Juan de Gaztelugatxe or enjoy a breathtaking view over the city on Mount Artxanda.

Although this region is very touristic, it is certainly worth a visit. The nearest airport is Alicante, about half an hour away from Murcia. Make a stopover on the way in Elche, shoe heaven of Spain. You can eat the tastiest tapas in Restaurant Meson Meson El Granaino. Murcia weather is pleasant all year round which makes it the perfect destination for a family holiday.

Definitely check out Salinas de Torrevieja, the famous pink lake in Spain.

The Spanish capital is the perfect destination for a weekend getaway. Madrid is elegant but in a classy way and overloaded with art, beautiful architecture and many lovely parks. The list of top things to do in Madrid is long and the city is ideal for a nice weekend abroad with the whole family.

Marbella is a beautiful seaside town in Andalucia. Like everywhere in Spain, the weather in Marbella is almost always sunny. It is the city where the most beautiful yachts are moored and where you picture yourself in shopping paradise. Marbella is a superb destination with its beaches, nightlife, good food and most beautiful hiking trails. What else could anybody possibly want?

Seville is by far one of the most beautiful European city trips I have ever taken. Seville is world famous for his flamenco dancers and its beautiful square Plaza de España. Everywhere in the city you will find the most beautiful building facades and cozy squares with trendy or classic bars & restaurants. The best time to visit Seville is all year around besides the hot summer months from June to August.

What else is on my ultimate Spanish bucket list? I still have to visit Maska and Ibiza! I hope to squeeze in these locations next year into my schedule.
